Depth & Velocity Measurements
Water depth is the vertical distance from a point on the channel bed to the water surface. Velocity is the rate of flow at a depth in the stream. For each target flow (low, medium, and high), depth and velocity measurements were taken at each station along the individual transects. Velocities were measured in feet per second (ft/s) using Price AA, Pygmy, or Marsh-McBirney current meters that were suspended on a top set wading rod (4, 6, & 8 ft. lengths). Depths were measured in feet (ft) using the wading rod graduations. |
